Meet Dr. Mauricio Castellanos

Dr. E. Mauricio Castellanos, “Dr. C,” has been practicing for more than 20 years as a clinician and professor specializing in general dentistry, prosthodontics, digital dentistry, implantology, and cosmetic dentistry; completed two residency programs and one fellowship.

Dr. Castellanos is passionate about replicating the natural beauty and structure of teeth in every procedure he performs. He enjoys establishing long lasting relationships with his patients, knowing that he can help patients with their teeth and returning them a beautiful smile and ideal function.

Education and Experience

Dr. Castellanos completed a General Practice Residency (GPR) program at the University of North Carolina, UNC, in Chapel Hill. During this time, he was selected to serve as the chief resident and rotated through the VA hospital, UNC Hospital, operating room, and the anesthesiology department, and later served as a professor.

Dr. Castellanos moved to Gainesville, Florida to attend the University of Florida College of Dentistry to complete his Master’s degree in Prosthodontics, specializing in treating complex dental and facial matters, including the restoration and replacement of missing or damaged teeth with dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, implant hybrids, jaw disorders, and more. During his third year, he served as the surgical chief resident and was the first dentist at the University of Florida to work with the E4D Dentist™ technologies. He was one of the pioneers of computer-guided surgery within the prosthodontic department and the first resident to place angled implants with a CBCT guide. He won first place for best research at UF and was honored with the Spring Synergy Award for this accomplishment.

Soon after completing his graduate degree in prosthodontics, Dr. Castellanos was offered a full-time professor position at the University of Florida, where he was served as the director of the Advanced Occlusion course and taught CAD/CAM technology to residents and students.

Dr. Castellanos’ passion for his profession goes beyond just his practice. He is continually giving back to his dental community by lecturing for numerous study clubs around the state, to include his research at the Annual Florida Prosthodontic Association, as well as nationally and internationally.

Dr. Castellanos’ referrals come from all over the US and he works with more than 100 offices in the area between general dentists and specialists, endodontists, periodontists, oral surgeons, and TMJ specialists. His research interests include digital dentistry and occlusion, and he will be submitting his research for publications to the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry. Finally, he is the author of two book chapters, done in conjunction with other schools, which was published in 2016.

Outside the Office

Dr. Castellanos has been married to his wife Tiffany of 20 years and they are the proud parents of a beautiful twelve-year-old son and a beloved labradoodle Chewy. His hobbies include spending time with his family at the beach, traveling, and doing Kung Fu and baseball with his son. He is also active in his community through his church and professional mentorships.
